How it works and what to know

With “days after invoice date” we count the days from the invoice date. An invoice dated 15 March with 30 days is due on 14 April.

With “end of month plus days” counting starts on the last day of the month of the invoice date. An invoice dated 15 March with end of month plus 30 days is due on 30 April.

If the result falls on a weekend you can roll it forward to Monday. Public holidays are not taken into account. Always agree the payment term with your customer and put it on the invoice.

Indicative, not tax advice

These tools give an indication and do not replace advice from an accountant or the tax authority. Rules can change and differ per situation and per country.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the due date of an invoice?

Add the payment term in days to the invoice date. The invoice date itself does not count: 30 days after 1 October is 31 October.

What does end of month plus 30 days mean?

The payment term starts on the last day of the month in which the invoice is dated. Then 30 days are added. This always gives the customer a little more time.

Why would I roll forward to Monday?

Payments are usually not processed at weekends. Moving the due date to the next Monday prevents a customer from being technically late while paying on the next working day. It is a choice, not a rule.

Are public holidays taken into account?

No. This tool only knows weekends. If your due date falls on a public holiday you need to check that yourself.

Which payment term should I choose?

That is something you agree with your customer. Put the term in your quote or terms and show the due date clearly on the invoice. Common terms are 14 and 30 days.
